{"id":7174,"date":"2024-06-03T13:27:17","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T11:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/?post_type=exhibition&#038;p=7174"},"modified":"2024-10-04T14:24:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T12:24:57","slug":"muca-goes-japan","status":"publish","type":"exhibition","link":"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/exhibition\/muca-goes-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"MUCA goes Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"7174\" class=\"elementor elementor-7174\" data-elementor-post-type=\"exhibition\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e333c8 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"0e333c8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d4e129 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9d4e129\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The MUCA Collection on <strong>Grand tour of Japan<\/strong>: From July 2023 to June 2024, the MUCA showed the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/exhibition\/ikonen-der-urban-art\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>\"Icons of Urban Art\" exhibition<\/strong> <\/a>at a total of three different guest stations in Japan.<\/p><p>For the first time, the MUCA presented over 80 iconic masterpieces from its collection of urban and contemporary art internationally, including a world-famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/banksy-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Banksy<\/strong><\/a>-Sculpture and key works by the US artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/kaws-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>KAWS<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p><p>The exhibition also included career-defining works by internationally renowned artists such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/barry-mcgee-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barry McGee<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/invader-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invader<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/jr-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JR<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/os-gemeos-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Os Gemeos<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/shepard-fairey-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shepard Fairey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/swoon-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swoon<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/vhils-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Vhils<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/artists\/richard-hambleton-ausstellung-muenchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richard Hambleton<\/a> to see.<\/p><p>The \"MUCA goes Japan\" tour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muca.eu\/en\/muca-goes-japan-ausstellungseroffnung-oita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">began in the summer of 2023 in <strong>Kyushu (Oita<\/strong>)<\/a>then made a guest appearance in <strong>Kyoto<\/strong> and had in Japan's vibrant capital<strong> Tokyo<\/strong> their last stop.<\/p><p>Fumio Nanjo , curator and art historian from Tokyo:<\/p><p>\"Importantly, the art collected by MUCA, which focuses on urban culture (art created against the backdrop of urban environments, including streets), is internationally recognised and now forms an international community. Although the forms of expression vary regionally, they are linked by a network of sympathetic young people. These expressions have spread internationally and are widely understood and supported.
