From October 13, 2018 to January 31, 2019, 50 local and international artists reinterpreted 5,000 square meters of interior and exterior space in the west of Munich.
In secret and hidden behind the façade of the former Tengelmann headquarters at Landbergerstrasse 350, artists from the urban and contemporary art scene worked for four months on their individual “spatial experiments”. Among other things, the numerous relics of the former office complex served as inspiration and backdrop for their works – mouse-grey wallpaper became a canvas, file folders became sculptures and office cabinets became installations. They sprayed, painted and hammered across several floors.
With the kind support of AXA IM – Real Assets and the real estate developer FOM Real Estate, who had brought the project to MUCA before the planned conversion, the KUNSTLABOR was created.
MUCA would like to thank all the artists involved for their creative work, all the press representatives for the great media attention and especially the many enthusiastic visitors for coming and for the great feedback and encouragement.
In spring 2019 the building was demolished. The MUCA is in planning for a “KUNSTLABOR 2”.
