MUCA will be opening Munich’s biggest interim use project, continuing the success story of Kunstlabor in 2021.
MUCA has taken over the former Gesundheitshaus at Dachauer Straße 90 in Munich to transform it into a new arts and culture centre. The six storey building was once the seat of the public health office, after which the city of Munich tendered it for an interim use project.
At almost 10.000m² across six storeys and a further 6.800 m² outdoors, the former Gesundheitshaus offers even more room for an expanded edition of our past project, Kunstlabor.
The concept envisions:
• expansive exhibition spaces
• an unconventional gastronomical programme
• around 100 studios and work rooms for creatives
• a varied programme of creative workshops for young and old
The exhibition space will stretch through a range of rooms across two levels. There, visitors can discover local and international artists at work.
In the spirit of a creative think tank, KUNSTLABOR 2 will provide a platform for artists to connect with one another, as well as with partners in the creative industry. On studio open days, visitors are welcome to join the creative dialogue and exchange.
KUNSTLABOR 2 will also offer a comprehensive supporting programme of live painting, concerts, readings and workshops.
Planned opening date: early 2021
(for students, apprentices, retirees, unemployeed workers and visitors with intermediate disability.)
Entry free for children aged under 12.
For groups of 5 or more persons: Reduced price per person (this applies to regular paying guests). Currently visitor groups are limited to 10 people, registration upfront is required.
